Nature Neuroscience Cover Blends Cryo-ET Data with Gustav Klimt’s Symbolist Style

Drs. Efrat Levy and Pasquale D’Acunzo are coauthors of a recent article titled, “Tau filaments are tethered within brain extracellular vesicles in Alzheimer’s disease.” The article appears in the January 2025, Volume 28 issue of Nature Neuroscience along with a cover image related to the article.

Authors found tau filaments composed mainly of truncated tau that were enclosed within extracellular vesicles (EVs) enriched in endo-lysosomal proteins. They observed multiple filament interactions, including with molecules that tethered filaments to the EV limiting membrane, suggesting selective packaging.
