Lisgaras Receives Cure Epilepsy Award
Dr. Christos Lisgaras received a Cure Epilepsy Award from CURE Epilepsy for the project titled “High frequency oscillations as a therapeutic target in temporal lobe epilepsy.” This project will test the hypothesis that the selective disruption of high-frequency oscillations (HFOs) in epileptic mice confers therapeutic potential using an automated system that detects and disrupts HFOs in real-time, employing brief inhibitory electrical pulses. The goal of this project is to determine whether disrupting HFOs is sufficient to reduce seizures.
