Lisgaras Co-Authors Piece in Alzheimer’s & Dementia
Dr. Christos Lisgaras and an international team from the United States and Spain have recently reported their research titled, “Characterizing circadian rest-activity rhythm patterns across Alzheimer’s disease continuum in Down syndrome.” Published in the April 29 edition of Alzheimer’s & Dementia, this study reveals that adults with Down syndrome experienced early-onset sleep disruptions and circadian rest-activity rhythm (RAR) disturbances that intensified progressively throughout the Alzheimer’s disease continuum—mirroring patterns observed in typical Alzheimer’s cases. The findings suggest that circadian RAR characteristics could serve as reliable, scalable biomarkers for tracking Alzheimer’s disease advancement.
