Brain Research Bulletin Includes a Review by Masuo Ohno

Dr. Masuo Ohno authored a review article entitled, “BACE1 as an early biomarker and its relevance to risk factors for Alzheimer’s disease,” published in the October edition of Brain Research Bulletin. This review offers a comprehensive overview of the changes in BACE1 as typical responses to a wide array of Alzheimer’s disease (AD) risk and protective factors. The results support the notion of BACE1 as a biomarker indicative of preclinical AD status, which could facilitate earlier diagnosis and assist in identifying specific subpopulations at risk for AD who may benefit from preventive treatment with low-dose BACE1 inhibitors, thereby increasing the likelihood of positive outcomes.
